Gordon Fisher, Ph.D. , postdoctoral fellow of the Nutrition Obesity Research Center at UAB, has been selected as one of the best in his track related to diverse populations. From over 400 abstract submissions, Dr. Fisher's work was deemed to be one of the best submissions for the first annual TOS Diversity Tour. Dr. Fisher's abstract is titled, " Independent Association of Protein Carbonyls and Insulin Sensitivity in African American but not European American Women".
The Obesity Society met for their annual meeting October 1 - 5 in Orlando, Florida. As a part of the Diversity Tour, his abstract was highlighted in the annual program, and he received special recognition at the Diversity Section meeting on Monday, October 3rd in the Sago meeting room.
One of the goals of the Diversity Section is to increase the visibility of work in the field of obesity that highlights diverse populations.
The Obesity Society is committed to improving the lives of those with obesity, nurturing careers of obesity scientists and practitioners and promoting the interdisciplinary nature of obesity research, management and education.
