Congratulations to Dr. Dana-Marie Thomas, a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Nutrition Sciences, who has been selected to participate as a "Scholar" in the Health Disparities Research Training Award Program (HDRTP) for 2/1/2008 to 1/31/2009.
The HDRTP is an interdisciplinary professional development program sponsored by Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), Tuskegee University (TU), University of Alabama (UA), University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), and the Center for Aging (CFA), the Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC), the Center for Outcome and Effectiveness Research and Education (COERE), and the Minority Health and Research Center (MHRC) at UAB.
The objectives of the Health Disparities Research Training Award program are to:
A final product of an R03 (or equivalent) grant proposal must be written and submitted by each Scholar during the training period. For those proposals meeting the selection criteria, $10,000 in pilot project funds will be provided to the scholar to start his/her project while his/her grant proposal is reviewed by a funding agency.
