Dr. Redden is a Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He graduated the University of Alabama in 1995 with a Ph.D. in Applied Statistics.

Dr. Redden's dissertation compared the properties of fuzzy linear regression to the properties of ordinary least squares regression.

After earning his Ph.D., Dr. Redden accepted a Post-Doctoral fellowship with the Civitan International Research Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He designed and conducted analyses of longitudinal data for the Head Start Longitudinal Demonstration Project.

In 1996, Dr. Redden joined the Comprehensive Cancer Center's Biostatistical group at the University of Alabama at Birmingham as a Research Assistant professor. During his appointment there,

Dr. Redden continues to work upon multi-site clinical trials and collaborated and published articles with collaborators in areas such as Asthma education, Tuberculosis investigations, Lung Cancer, Oral Cancer, Nutrition, Pathology, and AIDS related malignancies. Dr. Redden left the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1999 and accepted a position at Research Triangle Institute. While there, Dr. Redden collaborated on multi-site investigations such as the Study of Early Child Care.

Having recently joined the University of Alabama at Birmingham's Department of Biostatistics, Dr. Redden teaches Introduction to Biostatistics and Applied Linear Regression. His current research interests are multi-site clinical trials, modeling of Tuberculosis transmission, and accounting for genetic heterogeneity in association studies.
