Kevin Fontaine is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Behavior, School of Public Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Adjunct Faculty in the Division of Rheumatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland. Kevin has achieved national recognition for his research in the association of obesity to mortality in Hispanic persons, clinical obesity treatment, quality of life among obese persons, and the body composition in patients with rheumatic disease. He has conducted hundreds of intervention groups with overweight and obese adults to promote changes in physical activity and diet. His clinical research has also focused on the role of lifestyle physical activity in improving health status, symptoms, and body composition in adults with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. His work has been consistently funded by NIH, the American College of Rheumatology, the Arthritis Foundation, and the CFIDS Association of America.

His current research interests include: obesity, non-deceptive placebo responses, resistance exercise, neuro-dynamic strain in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and the effects of ketogenic diets on metabolism, inflammation and cancer.
