Dr. Jamy Ard, Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition Sciences and a member of the Clinical Nutrition Research Center (CNRC), has been announced one of this year's recipients of the International Life Science Institute's  Future Leaders Award. This is a very prestigious award given to promising nutrition and food scientists, allowing new investigators the opportunity to add to an existing project or to conduct exploratory research that might not receive funding from other sources. Consideration is given to individuals proposing research in the areas of experimental nutrition, nutrition and food safety, and nutrition and food science. The grants are awarded for a period of 2 years at a funding level of $15,000 per year.
This reflects well on Dr. Ard, the department, CNRC, and the University. Moreover, UAB faculty have been the recipient of 4 such awards over the years. The other 3 awardees are Dr. Tim Nagy, Dr. Marie Pierre St Onge, and Dr. David Allison.
