Drs. Akilah Dulin Keita and Gordon Fisher, postdoctoral fellows  of the Nutrition Obesity Research Center at UAB, received the Office of Postdoctoral Education (OPE) Sprint 2012 Travel Awards.
Five awards at $500.00 each are given to Postdoctoral Scholars to enhance their professional development. Allowable expenses include travel to national or international scientific meetings for the purpose of giving an oral presentation.
|Akilah Dulin Keita, PhD  will be attending the Society for Research on Adolescence to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada March 8th – 10th. She will be presenting her research entitled "Relationships of race/ethnicity and discrimination with systolic blood pressure" during the Health Disparities in Disadvantaged Adolescents: Exploring the Physiological Pathways of Interpersonal and Environmental Stressors Symposium.|
|Gordon Fisher, PhD  will be traveling to the Southeast American College of Sports Medicine Annual Meeting in Jacksonville, FL from Feb 9-11. He will be presenting his research entitled "Associations between Arterial Elasticity and Markers of Inflammation in Healthy Older Women." He will also be moderating the following session: Metabolism; Nutrition; Environmental Physiology; Fitness/Testing/Assessment.|
