Dr. Ceren Yarar, postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Cell, Developmental & Integrative Biology and Nutrition Obesity Research Center  at UAB, is one of four recipients of the 2012 Fall Career Enhancement Award from UAB’s Office of Postdoctoral Education.
The Postdoctoral Career Enhancement Award was established in 2001 to provide opportunities for postdoctoral scholars seeking to enhance their professional development. Four awards of up to $1,500 will be given to Postdoctoral Scholars, whose purpose is to fund the fellows' participation in educational activities outside of UAB. Allowable expenses include: Internships of up to a 1 month period, attending extramural courses (e.g. NIH, Cold Spring Harbor, Woods Hole, etc.), to learn new skills, and visiting laboratories to conduct collaborative studies.
Dr. Yarar will be going to NIH in Bethesda for a Biotrac workshop whose purpose is to teach Protein-DNA Interactions: Gene Specific and Epigenetic Regulation of Expression of the Mammalian Genome. It is a 5 day lab and lecture workshop.
