Current Location - Research Scientist I, Vertex Pharmaceuticals

I received my bachelors degree in biology with a minor in physiology at Cal Poly, Pomona University and my PhD in Cell, Molecular and Developmental Biology from the University of California, Riverside. For my dissertation research I studied calcium dependent vesicular transmitter release from astrocytes and how this affects neuronal function.

I joined the Section on Statistical Genetics in March of 2011. I will be working with Dr. Bradley Yoder, studying signal transduction through the neuronal primary cilium. I am investigating how deficits in the function of neuronal cilia can bring about pathologies such as obesity, hydrocephalus and cognitive deficits.
